The downturn in April was quickly erased: over 14,000 jobs were created by start-ups between May and June, representing 75% of the total since the beginning of the year. <\/p>\n<p>More than 8,000 people were recruited by 2,591 start-ups in June, an average of 3.4 jobs per start-up.<\/p>\n<p>As for the regions, \u00cele-de-France (+3700 jobs) and Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes (around +500 jobs) confirm their dynamism.<\/p>\n<p>As for the sector ranking, \u201cGreenTech\u201d continues to lead the way, with over 500 jobs created in June.<\/p>\n<h2>19,000 jobs created by French Tech start-ups in the first half of 2023<\/h2>\n<p>The digital sector alone (source: Numeum half-yearly study) will be responsible for the creation of one in every six jobs in France by 2022, reaffirming its driving role in the French economy. Despite the talent shortage, which remains a major challenge, the digital sector created over 47,000 jobs in France last year. <\/p>\n<p>Against this encouraging backdrop, Numeum reports on the employment situation of French Tech start-ups in the first half of 2023. In the first six months of the year, French nuggets generated over 19,000 jobs (compared with 23,000 over the same period in 2022). Employment dynamics in the first half of the year grew by 7.2% (versus 10.1% over the same period in 2022).  <\/p>\n<p>In detail, three quarters of start-ups created jobs (4,541 start-ups) or stabilized jobs (3,457 start-ups), while a quarter (2,676 start-ups) shed jobs in the first half of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u00cele-de-France and Auvergne-Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes account for the bulk of job creation in French start-ups: they have respectively generated over 11,600 and 1,700 jobs since January, out of a total of 19,300.<\/p>\n<p>If there&#8217;s one sector that&#8217;s generating a lot of new hires in France, it&#8217;s Greentech. With over 3,300 jobs created in the first half of the year, this sector accounts for one in six (17%) of all new hires by French Tech start-ups. <\/p>\n<p>In the ranking, Greentech is followed by Transporttech and Fintech, with over 1,750 and almost 1,700 jobs created respectively since January. Deeptech, meanwhile, has generated over 1,500 new hires in the last six months. When one sector reaches a plateau, a new one takes over. This certainly goes some way to explaining the resilience of French tech employment in the current period.
