After an acceleration of +3,000 net jobs created in French startups in April, May saw a slight slowdown. Nonetheless, we note a positive balance of nearly 2,700 net creations, and growth of +0.8% (versus +0.9% in April). Since the start of the year, startups have created almost 11,000 net jobs in France, representing total growth of 3.3%. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n

The main reason for this positive momentum is that French startups are shedding fewer and fewer jobs every month. This decline is constant and now represents a 22% drop compared to the beginning of the year. As for job creations, trends fluctuate sharply from month to month. And if the dynamic is less positive in May than in April, it’s precisely because job creations are back to their March level. In other words, down 10.6% on April. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n

In terms of regions, \u00cele de France accelerated to generate over 1,500 new jobs in May (56% of the national total). This represents an increase of 0.2 points on the previous month. It should be noted, however, that the proportion of jobs created by startups in the Paris region remains, for the moment, relatively lower than in previous years. As a reminder, this share was 58% for the whole of 2023 and 66% for 2022. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n

Finally, with regard to our analysis of the most job-creating sectors, industrial startups narrowly retained their top spot, with almost 500 new jobs created. They are now hot on the heels of Green Tech start-ups on a year-to-date basis. The latter have generated around 2,300 jobs since January, or 21% of the national total. Finally, it’s worth noting that two out of every five jobs created within French Tech come from an industrial startup or a GreenTech startup. <\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n
